Check the RAVA label for both model number and date of manufacture. Transport Canada's April 4, 2025 notice covers nine listed Canadian RAVA model numbers manufactured from November 25, 2018 through December 20, 2024. The notice directs affected owners to request a new seat pad and free cleaning kit from Nuna Canada, clean the mechanism as instructed, install the new pad, and contact Nuna Canada if harness loosening continues.
What the notice is, and is not
Transport Canada publishes safety alerts for non-compliance or safety defects, model notices for model-specific issues not described that way, and general notices for broader information. The RAVA page is Consumer Information Notice 2025-C01 E. It says Nuna Canada wants owners to know about a product update for some seats. Use the wording and remedy on the Transport Canada: Nuna RAVA seat-pad and cleaning-kit notice; do not turn it into a claim that every RAVA has been recalled or that an unaffected seat needs the kit.
Step 1: locate the identity label
Find the label showing the model number and manufacture date. Do not use the colour name, purchase date, receipt date or online product title as a substitute. Photograph the full label clearly enough to read later. Transport Canada asks owners to have the model number, manufacture date and updated mailing address ready for the request. If the model number or manufacture date cannot be verified from the seat label, contact Nuna Canada using the official notice details rather than estimating.
Step 2: match one of the affected model numbers
The listed models are CS5102CV, CS5102GR, CS5102NT, CS5102LK, CS05108RVT, CS05112RFD, CS05113HAZ, CS05123MIN and CS05125DDC. A similar prefix is not a match. Compare the complete string character by character. The current baby enRoute RAVA listing uses newer variant SKUs, but a retail listing cannot identify a seat already in a household; the physical label controls this check.
Step 3: match the manufacture-date window
The model number alone is not enough. The manufacture date must fall from November 25, 2018 through December 20, 2024, inclusive as stated by Transport Canada. A purchase after December 2024 can still involve an earlier manufacture date, and a RAVA name alone reveals neither field. If either the model or date is outside the stated population, do not claim the notice applies; use Nuna Canada or Transport Canada for case-specific confirmation.
Step 4: request and use the official remedy
Transport Canada links the Nuna RAVA Seat Pad and Cleaning Kit Request Form. The company action is a new seat pad that covers the front adjuster locking mechanism plus a cleaning kit to remove debris before the pad is installed and for later cleaning. Follow the kit instructions exactly. Use only the cleaning steps and kit described in the official Transport Canada notice.
Step 5: check harness function every ride
Transport Canada recommends pulling on the harness straps every time the child is placed in the seat to confirm they stay tight. The notice says food or debris can interfere with the front adjuster locking mechanism. If the straps loosen, follow the cleaning instructions; if the issue continues, contact Nuna Canada at the contact details in the notice.
Keep a small remedy record
Save the label photo, request confirmation, date the kit was used and retain the instructions with the seat manual. Tell every caregiver who installs or uses the seat what was done and where the instructions are stored. This record prevents the next caregiver from repeating the eligibility guess and helps when the seat moves between vehicles. It is not a replacement for checking the harness on every use.
For a new RAVA shopper
The notice's affected manufacture window ends December 20, 2024; owners should verify the exact model number and manufacture date on the physical seat label. The current RAVA listing at baby enRoute and broader Nuna collection are shopping references, not proof about a seat already owned. Use Transport Canada's Transport Canada: child-seat safety alerts and notices for current notice status and the physical seat label for identity.
Affected and unaffected examples
A seat with model CS05113HAZ made in June 2023 matches both fields and follows the remedy path. A CS05113HAZ made in January 2025 falls outside the stated manufacture window and needs case-specific confirmation rather than an automatic kit claim. A different RAVA model made in 2022 also does not match the published list merely because its date is inside the range. These examples demonstrate the two-field logic; owners must still read their own label and the current official notice.
Do not let a completed request end the check
Requesting the kit is one step, not proof that the seat has been cleaned, updated and functioning as directed. Track delivery, follow the included instructions, install the new pad and continue the harness check every ride. If several caregivers share the seat, confirm that each knows how to tighten and test the harness. If straps loosen or the mechanism does not behave as instructed, stop relying on the checklist and contact Nuna Canada using the official notice details.
Information hygiene for shared caregivers
Send the official Transport Canada URL, not a screenshot without context. Include the physical model and date privately among the caregivers who need them, and record the remedy status without altering the label. Remove old social posts or retailer summaries from the decision once the primary notice is available. This keeps model population, dates, action and contact path together and reduces the chance that a later caregiver mistakes ‘RAVA update’ for a universal rule.
If the label does not resolve cleanly
Do not trim, enhance or guess an unreadable model or date. Photograph the label in good light, retain the full seat identity and contact Nuna Canada through the details in the Transport Canada notice. Describe what is visible without supplying a proposed answer. If a seat appears to match but the request form rejects it, preserve the response and ask the manufacturer. The official parties, not colour recognition or an online serial-number discussion, should resolve the case.
Use the two-field stop rule
If both the exact model number and manufacture date match the notice, follow the official remedy and continue the harness check every ride. If harness loosening continues after the directed cleaning and pad update, contact Nuna Canada through the official notice.
The remedy record and the seat's do-not-use-after date solve different ownership questions. The Canadian car-seat expiry guide explains how to keep the labelled date in the same maintenance file without treating it as part of this notice.
