Hydro Flask Kids Lids: Match the Bottle Before Ordering a Replacement

Match a Hydro Flask replacement by vessel type before matching the colour or shape of the top. Hydro Flask’s current fit chart puts both 12 oz and 18 oz Kids Bottles in the Wide Mouth cap family. The 12 oz Kids Tumbler instead takes Small lids, and the 24 oz Kids Travel Tumbler takes Medium lids. Those press-in tumbler lids are not the same system as a threaded Wide Mouth bottle cap.

That distinction resolves most wrong-part orders. “Kids” describes several Hydro Flask product families; it does not identify one universal lid. Start with the complete product name, then confirm whether the top screws onto external threads or presses into the rim.

Bottle caps screw on; tumbler lids press in

Hydro Flask’s official accessory fit chart defines caps as threaded parts designed for bottles. Lids are press-in parts designed for tumblers, mugs and other drinkware. It also gives a simple visual check: a Wide Mouth bottle has a wide opening with external threading.

If the product name says “Bottle” and the opening has external threads, shop within the Wide Mouth cap family. If it says “Tumbler,” use the Small or Medium lid route shown for that exact tumbler size. Do not choose from the capacity number alone: a 12 oz Kids Bottle and a 12 oz Kids Tumbler share a volume label but use different top systems.

How the current kids bottles map

The current Kids 12 oz Wide Mouth Bottle with Straw Cap, Kids 12 oz Wide Mouth Bottle with Covered Straw Cap and Kids 18 oz Wide Mouth Bottle with Covered Straw Cap all identify themselves as Wide Mouth bottles. That places their screw-on caps in the same fit-chart family even though the original cap designs and bottle heights differ.

A standard Wide Mouth Flex Straw Cap is therefore a fit-chart match for these Kids Bottles. Hydro Flask says its straw can be trimmed to fit the bottle. Follow the instructions supplied with the replacement cap for that trim rather than copying the length of a different-size bottle.

The compatibility statement is about the cap-to-bottle thread. It does not establish that a covered-cap silicone insert, gasket, handle, drinking spout or straw from one cap design can be moved into another. When the needed piece sits inside the cap, identify the exact cap generation and use an official part listing or manufacturer support that names that component.

Keep the food jar out of the bottle-cap map

The Kids 12 oz Insulated Food Jar also has a screw-on top, but Hydro Flask’s fit chart does not list food jars under Kids Bottles. Do not use the bottle chart to authorize a Wide Mouth cap for the jar. Match a food-jar lid only through a source that names that exact jar.

Use this order before ordering

  1. Read the full vessel name. Find Bottle, Tumbler, Travel Tumbler or Food Jar, not just “Kids” and the ounce number.
  2. Check the connection. External bottle threads point to a cap family; a smooth tumbler rim points to a press-in lid family.
  3. Choose the exact drinking format. A thread match can support a Flex Straw, Flex or Chug cap, but the opening and drinking action change with the cap.
  4. Treat internal pieces separately. Buy a straw, seal or insert only when the listing names the cap or vessel you own.

If the name has worn off or the top no longer resembles current product photos, send Hydro Flask support a full bottle photo, a clear view of the opening and a photo of the old cap from above and below. That gives the manufacturer enough visual context to identify the family without relying on colour.

For current bottles and their original cap styles, browse the Hydro Flask collection. For a replacement part, let the vessel category and connection type decide first; colour comes last.
