Owala SmoothSip Slider 12 oz Insulated Travel Mug
Smooth sips, with a slider to close between drinks
The 12 oz Owala SmoothSip Slider is a compact, no-handle stainless steel coffee tumbler with a shaped sipping spout and a sliding cover. It is insulated for hot or cold drinks and cup-holder friendly. Close the slider fully between sips and carry it upright: the lid does not have a mechanical lock, so the manufacturer’s leakproof claim applies only under normal expected use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the 12 oz, 20 oz or handled version?
This page is for the 12 US fl oz stainless steel SmoothSip Slider without a side handle. The 20 oz, handled and ceramic-coated versions are separate configurations.
Is the lid always leakproof?
No. The guide says the slider has no locking mechanism and is leakproof only under normal expected use when properly closed. Shaking, jostling or pressure can open the slider or compromise the seal. Carry upright, keep objects away from the slider, and avoid extended sideways or upside-down storage.
Can I use it for hot coffee or tea?
Yes, with care. Hot liquids can cause burns; never use liquids hot enough to scald. Check the drink temperature and keep the cup upright.
Can it hold fizzy drinks, milk or baby food?
The guide says not to use carbonated beverages and not to store warm dairy products, baby food or other perishable liquids. Follow those restrictions rather than treating it as long-term food storage.
Does it have the FreeSip straw?
No. This is the SmoothSip Slider coffee tumbler with a shaped spout and sliding cover, not a FreeSip straw bottle.
Can I put it in the dishwasher?
Disassemble the lid first. The lid is top-rack dishwasher safe; the slider pieces and gasket can go in the utensil basket. Hand-wash the stainless steel cup to preserve its finish.
How do I take the lid apart?
Remove the lid and open the slider. Hold the slider and lift its back edge to remove it. Turn the lid over; push the underside piece away from the spout, rotate it 90 degrees and remove it, then remove the surrounding gasket. Reverse these steps to reassemble and verify every seal is installed. Use the manufacturer PDF for the full instructions.
Can it be microwaved, frozen or boiled?
No. The manufacturer explicitly warns against microwaving, freezing or boiling the tumbler.
Will it fit a cup holder?
Owala describes the no-handle SmoothSip Slider as cup-holder friendly. Compare its dimensions with your particular holder rather than assuming every holder is identical.
What is included?
One 12 oz no-handle stainless steel tumbler and its matching lid, slider and seals. No FreeSip straw, handled body, cleaning brush or extra accessories are included.
Care & Use
Wash before first use and after use. Hand-wash the cup to preserve its finish. Disassemble the lid before dishwashing: lid on the top rack, slider pieces and gasket in the utensil basket. Reassemble carefully and make sure every seal and gasket is installed correctly. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives. Close the slider and carry upright; it has no mechanical lock. Shaking, jostling and pressure can defeat the seal. Do not store sideways or upside down for extended periods. Never use liquids hot enough to scald. Do not use carbonated drinks or store warm dairy products, baby food or other perishable liquids. Do not microwave, freeze or boil.
