Owala specifies ages 3 and up for this 16 oz Kids’ FreeSip. It has the same sip-or-swig spout concept in a smaller bottle; it is not an infant feeding bottle.
How do I sip or swig?
Hold the bottle upright to sip through the built-in straw, or tilt it to drink through the larger opening in the same FreeSip spout. The included straw can be removed for cleaning.
How long does it keep water cold?
The stainless steel FreeSip uses triple-layer vacuum insulation; Owala states 24 hours cold. This is a cold-drink bottle, not a hot-drink flask.
Can I use hot, fizzy or perishable drinks?
No. The manufacturer specifically warns against hot, carbonated and perishable liquids, including warm dairy products and baby food. Use it for cold water instead.
Is it leakproof?
The lid is leakproof when properly closed and the seals are correctly installed. Fold the carry loop over the button to help prevent accidental opening before carrying it in a bag.
Which pieces can go in the dishwasher?

Care & Use
Wash before first use and after use. Hand-wash the stainless steel bottle to preserve its finish; put the lid on the top dishwasher rack and the straw in the utensil basket. Use a straw brush for the straw and fluid passage. Remove and clean the gasket, then reassemble only when dry and check all seals are correctly installed. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives. Do not microwave, freeze or boil. Do not fill with hot, carbonated or perishable liquids. Changes in altitude or hot surroundings can build pressure: cautiously loosen the lid a quarter turn to release pressure, retighten before drinking, and keep fingers away from the recess behind the spout cover when opening.
