A nursery furniture delivery should be inspected before assembly begins. Confirm the service level, match the carton labels to the ordered model and finish, photograph visible damage, find the exact instructions and account for the listed hardware while the packaging is still available. Stop when the model is wrong, a structural part is damaged, or required hardware is missing. Starting the build can turn a clear delivery problem into a much harder diagnosis.
This checklist begins at the handoff. It does not replace route planning: measure doorways, stairs and turns before delivery. On arrival day, the job is to preserve a clear record of what came, what condition it was in and whether the package is complete enough to assemble safely.
Confirm the service before the truck arrives
Furniture delivery is not one universal service. baby enRoute's current Shipping & Delivery policy says oversized items and furniture use a product-specific rate or manual quote based on the destination. The options available for the exact order appear at checkout, and furniture delivery can be limited by destination and carrier service.
Do not treat “delivery” as a promise of stairs, room-of-choice placement, unpacking or assembly unless that service appears in the order confirmation. If one of those services determines whether the delivery will work, ask about it before ordering and keep the written answer with the order. The policy does not make a blanket upstairs or assembly promise.
Keep the order number, product title, selected finish and delivery contact accessible. If the order contains several pieces, also keep every tracking number together: baby enRoute notes that products can arrive in separate packages at different times.
Match the label before moving to assembly
Read the product and finish labels while the cartons are still closed. For the two Flexx examples, model 95033 is the Premium 3 Drawer XL Dresser; model 95035 is the Premium 5 Drawer Dresser. The current product pages show Graphite/Wheat, White/Wheat and White finish choices. A correct collection name with the wrong model or finish is still a mismatch.
Nest's 2020 catalogue lists the finished 95033 dresser at 45 x 20 x 36 inches and the finished 95035 at 39 x 20 x 53 inches. Those are product dimensions, not carton dimensions. Use them to confirm which form was ordered, but do not infer the carton count, carton size or lifting requirement from them.
Count the cartons against the carrier record and the tracking information you actually received. Do not invent an expected carton count from the number of furniture pieces; a split shipment can be legitimate. What matters is whether every carton shown as delivered is physically present and whether another tracking number is still moving.
Inspect all sides before removing the packaging
Look at the top, bottom, long sides, short sides and every corner. Photograph the full carton label, a wide view of each affected side and a close view of any puncture, crushed corner, wet area or opened seam. If the carrier provides a place to note visible damage, describe what is visible without guessing about the contents and keep a copy.
A damaged carton does not prove the furniture inside is damaged, and a clean carton does not prove every internal part is intact. The photographs simply preserve the condition at handoff. If a package arrives damaged, baby enRoute asks customers to contact the store with the order number and available photos so the shipment can be reviewed. That is a review process, not a promise of a particular replacement, refund or repair.
Furniture is listed as final sale under the current Returns & Refunds policy unless the product page states otherwise or baby enRoute approves a return. Keep the carton, packing materials, manuals and loose parts until the condition and completeness of the delivery have been resolved. Do not discard the evidence needed to identify the item or explain a problem.
Open in a sequence that preserves the evidence
Open one carton at a time in a clean, dry area. Photograph the product label and the condition visible after each protective layer is removed. Keep hardware bags sealed until the instructions identify them, and keep small components with the carton they came from. This makes it possible to distinguish a missing part from a part set aside with another package.
Find the instructions and their parts list before joining panels. Match each major furniture piece first, then each hardware group by the manual's own description or callout. Do not rely on a general dresser video or a manual for another Flexx model: 95033 and 95035 are different forms.
Stop before assembly if you find a split panel, cracked joint, bent glide, distorted fastener, missing structural hardware or a missing anti-tip component required by the instructions. Record the manual callout, the quantity expected and the quantity received. Contact baby enRoute with the order number, model label, carton label, overall photo and close-up. That gives the store and manufacturer a precise question to answer.
Do not solve a missing-part problem with a visual match
A bolt, bracket or restraint that looks similar is not automatically the correct grade, length or geometry. Ask for the exact replacement identified for the model rather than choosing from household hardware by appearance. Natart's assembly guidance says furniture should be assembled according to its manual and warns that skipping steps can affect the integrity of the piece.
If the instructions are missing, request the exact manual before continuing. If a substitute is proposed, obtain confirmation that it is approved for that product and step. This is especially important for drawer glides, structural fasteners and the wall-restraint connection, where a small dimensional difference can alter how the part engages.
Assembly is complete only after the anti-tip step
Build on a level surface and follow the exact sequence in the manual. Do not force a panel into alignment or continue when a fastener will not seat as shown. A part that binds, rocks or needs an improvised hole is a reason to stop and identify the cause.
Health Canada advises following the manufacturer's assembly instructions and anchoring furniture to the wall with an anti-tip device. Use the hardware and wall method specified for the exact furniture and wall construction. If the required restraint or installation information is absent, leave the dresser out of use until the correct setup is confirmed.
Before putting anything in the drawers, check that the cabinet stands as intended, every fastener required by the manual is installed, drawers travel normally and the anti-tip connection is complete. Keep heavier items in lower drawers, close drawers when they are not in use and open only one at a time, as Health Canada recommends.
The delivery is ready to close out when five things are true
- The model and finish labels match the order.
- Every delivered carton has been matched to the tracking record.
- Damage has been photographed and reported before it is obscured by assembly.
- The manual's parts and hardware are present, undamaged and used in the specified sequence.
- The completed furniture is level, operates normally and is anchored as directed.
Only then should the packaging be discarded. For other cribs, dressers, chests and nursery pieces, the same acceptance sequence applies: exact identity first, visible condition second, manual and parts third, assembly and anchoring last. Browse nursery furniture with the delivery service, final product dimensions and assembly requirements treated as three separate questions.
